Classic 0.50 Carat Engagement Ring
Classic 0.50 Carat Engagement Ring
Sometimes pieces come to us together and we are loath to break them apart. This engagement ring is engraved May 25, 1940 in the earlier days of World War II. The historic evacuation of Allied forces at Dunkirk would begin the next day. This vintage engagement ring captures such an emotional moment in time, and represents the hope of what’s to come for the beloveds who both gifted this ring and wore it. It is paired with a wedding band.
This platinum ring is set with an old European cut center diamond weighing approximately 0.50 carats, of L-M color and VS clarity. The four side transitional-cut, bead-set diamonds weigh approximately 0.16 carats. The inside of the band is stamped 10% IRID and PLAT W, for the Whitehouse Brothers jewelry firm of Cincinnati, Ohio. Engraved "HCM to NP 5-25-40". Made c. 1940.
This ring is in excellent vintage condition. It is presently a finger size 5.75 and can be resized.
