Custom Design, Restoration & Repair

The Custom Process

A custom piece is jewelry made to your specifications, exactly how you want. Can’t find exactly what you’re looking for out in the world? Maybe you’ve inherited an antique or vintage piece and want to re-envision it? We can help.

The process is quite special and rewarding. You bring your ideas, we bring a thorough understanding of classic jewelry design and fabrication. Once we have finalized your design, we facilitate each step in the process toward making your piece a reality.

We have fostered long standing relationships with some of the best jewelry artisans in town and every Gray & Davis piece is handmade in New York City. We have the unique privilege of being able to monitor your piece through every step of production by working directly with each artisan. That way we ensure your vision is realized accurately and with utmost attention to quality.

Ready to start your custom piece?

When you’re ready to start the process, give us a call! We’ll ask some initial questions and make your appointment. Custom appointments are typically taken on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Custom works best when you have a pretty good idea of what you’re looking for. We’re designing a piece together so bring your inspiration with you! Maybe it’s an image or Pinterest board or a piece in our Online Shop. We’ll chat about what you like and don’t like to bring your perfect piece to life. To begin work on your piece, we require a 50% deposit of the initial quote.

From antique diamonds to rare and unusual colored stones, our network of gem dealers can find what you're looking for. Need to see a few gemstones before you’re ready to commit to a design? To gather a selection of stones for your appointment, we require a deposit of $500 (applicable to the final piece or convertible to store credit).

Repairs

We are always happy to facilitate repair and restoration of antique, vintage and modern jewelry originally purchased from Gray & Davis

Due to the singular nature of antique and vintage jewelry, we do not facilitate repairs of pieces purchased elsewhere.
