Victorian Three Pearl Ring
Victorian Three Pearl Ring
Walking through the halls of the art museum, we’re outfitting ourselves in the painted garments. You pick a big Elizabethan ruff. Red stockings tied below the knee with gold ribbon. A long, dramatic cape. I go straight for Madame X’s gorgeous evening gown, the strap casually hanging off my shoulder. Once we have our outfits, it’s time to select our jewelry. There are all manner of finger rings - a carved scarab from antiquity. Bright red garnets. Swirling enamel. And the pearls. Hundreds of years of well-loved pearls. Strung onto long strands of silk, dangling from an earring, set into all manner of rings.
This pearl ring dates to c. 1860 and would look just as home in a portrait as on a hand today. Three natural pearls are set with six wonderful old mine cut diamonds. A gently worn, fluted floral shank completes this 19th century beau. There is some light wear to the pearls commensurate with age; made c.1860, this ring is coming on 175 years old yet still feels fresh and relevant today.
This ring is in great antique condition. It is presently finger size 6 and can be resized.
