Posy Ring, c.1720
Posy Ring, c.1720
We’re familiar with the elegant, swirling script. The stuff of grand Shakespeare folios and intimate lost letters, with writing almost like drawing from a fluid hand. And, once upon a time, loved ones put not pen to paper, but engraved their beloved message on the inside of gifted rings. They’re called “posy” rings, a way to keep your words with their intended long after the parchment has crumbled.
This Georgian era posy ring of smooth 18K yellow gold is inscribed with the phrase “I joy to find a constant mind" around the interior. Basically, I love to find someone who thinks of only me <3 This ring was made c. 1720.
This ring is in excellent antique condition. It is finger size 9 and can be resized with limitations.
