Opal and Demantoid Cluster Ring

$4,200.00

The warm-toned green of the demantoid garnet is a really special thing. It was first discovered in the 1850s and became a staple accent of late 19th and early 20th century design, particularly when nature was the inspiration. Here, they are paired with an opal cabochon, perhaps to draw out its lovely green tones and contrast with its orange ones, shimmering like the feathers of some gorgeous bird. Friends of a feather flock together.

An English Victorian cluster ring with an approximately 1.83 carat opal cabochon center, with lots of orange flash, set in a millegrained bezel. It is surrounded by a circle of bright green, round faceted demantoid garnets. A lovely basket sits atop an unadorned band, which flattens slightly around the bottom of the finger. Stamped 18 for 18K yellow gold.

This ring is in excellent antique condition. It is presently finger size 5.5 and can be resized.
