Modified Old Euro Engagement Ring
Modified Old Euro Engagement Ring
It’s no secret we love the lapidaries of yore here at Gray & Davis. Their endless creativity, the facets and details they cut by hand, coaxing incredible sparkle from rough. And, we know it’s happened in the past, that one artisan is inspired to update the work of another. But rarely is that history set so noticeably before us.
Such is the case with the diamond in this platinum Art Deco engagement ring. We suspect the center diamond was originally an old mine cut that was later recut into the antique cushion shape here. It is GIA certified of D color and SI2 clarity. This prong-set center stone sits in a pierced and millgrained basket. Six graduated old cut diamonds are set into each millegrained shoulder, with a touch of engraving at the bottom. It tapers into a slender platinum band, the inside of which is stamped PT950 and with a maker's mark we have not been able to identify.
This ring is in excellent antique condition. It is presently finger size 6.5 and can be resized.
