We came here on a family trip when I was a child. It was the first time I’d seen a manor house and all the beauty inside. The old waxy window panes in their iron frame with stained glass pops of color. The gothic dark wood staircases. The hand painted wallpaper peeking out of the spaces between generations of portraiture. And out back, the perfectly manicured garden maze, we would see who could run to the center first.

Now, decades later, coming up the drive, the house looks mostly the same. But what catches my eye immediately is the ivy. What was once a wee sprout now covers the entirety of the front facade. A collage of green leaves dancing in the breeze.

Sometimes it’s all in the leafy details. On this gorgeous early Art Deco engagement ring, the center old European cut diamond is prong set in a lovely mounting featuring three leaf plants and swirls on the basket. The GIA certified center is 1.70 carats, of J color and VVS2 clarity.

The shoulders are each set with two single cut diamonds, with chevron engraving continuing down the shank. Stamped PLAT on the inside of the band.

The ring is in excellent antique condition. It is presently a finger size 6.5 and can be resized.
