Seventeenth-century Portrait Miniature
Seventeenth-century Portrait Miniature
A real antique treasure, this portrait miniature of the late seventeenth-century depicts a European gentleman proudly wearing a red overcoat and giant curly wig. The miniature was likely reset in the 1700s, and is held under a glass oculus within an elegant frame of 12 karat rose gold. The piece measures 2 inches in length, and 1 ¼ inches in width.
This piece is in good condition for its age. There is wear on the miniature painting, and some small dents and scratches in the gold and glass. This pendant should not be worn in water.
