Victorian Sterling Aesthetic Bangle
Victorian Sterling Aesthetic Bangle
This Victorian aesthetic-style bangle makes quite a statement, even today. Crafted in sterling silver, it features a floral overlay done in pink and green gold. During the Aesthetic movement, c. 1870-1880, Western takes on Japanese art appeared on everything from teapots to jewelry. Many striking jewels were fabricated in silver, and feature japanesque motifs like fans, flowers, bamboo and birds engraved on bold, geometric silver pieces. This particular bracelet was hallmarked in Chester, England c.1870, and is hinged for easy on/off. It measures 1 ¼ inches in width, and the opening is approximately 2 ¼ inches by 1 ¾ inches.
