Victorian Fringe Necklace
Victorian Fringe Necklace
Certain decorative techniques just make you want to reach out and touch them. Feel the ripple of a Victorian lampshade’s silken trim under your fingers. Pluck music from the taut strings of an antique harp. Fluff the lacy ruffle on an antique bustle. These pieces are often kept behind museum glass. But what if you had a piece that you could reach out and touch at any time? As it lays beautifully on your neck.
This stunning late Victorian handmade necklace in 18K yellow gold has a central design of 11 inverse-drop-shaped fringe with a gold bead tip. From there, we have a lovely, lightweight, open-work chain leading up to a nice spring ring that clasps it all together. French made with Parisian hallmarks, c.1890.
This necklace is in excellent antique condition. It measures 17" in length.
