Spend some time with antique jewelry and you start to notice the little things. Design details, fabrication preferences. It’s not always tried and true, but sometimes just by looking at a piece, you know where she’s come from. The opulent handcraft, the elegant open work, the bright 18K yellow gold – she’s got to be French, we think, before confirming via the classic hallmarks on this necklace’s clasp. 

Each link of this 18K yellow gold necklace is oval in shape with thick wire frames and screen-like open work. A hidden box clasp is fitted into one of the links for seamless wear. It was made in the 19th Century c. 1860, and does indeed have French hallmarks on the clasp tongue. 

This necklace is in excellent antique condition. It measures 19” in length.
