Cartier Two Tone Gold Necklace
Cartier Two Tone Gold Necklace
In the 1940s, as the country vigorously bustled to meet the demands of the moment, its creativity was not limited to industrial effort. Life happens alongside the conflict overseas, and we still seek to find moments of beauty and joy, using what’s available. At Cartier, the legendary jewelry house, they adapt to the wartime American market. Their streamline designs reflect the moment, inspired by mechanical innovations elsewhere. And, because there’s a metal shortage, they’re doing it in 14K gold, but only for a moment.
A bold Retro two-tone curb link necklace by Cartier. The puffed links make a bit of music when they clink together. They are graduated in size and alternate mostly two by two between 14K rose and yellow gold. One of the links doubles as a hinged clasp. This necklace was made c.1945, provenance tells us it was made by Cartier New York. Signed 14K Cartier.
This necklace is in excellent vintage condition. It measures just about 16" in length.
