Call of the Sea Shell
Call of the Sea Shell
Saturday at the beach. But not the scene you might expect. The windswept sand is dusted with snow with little flurries guiding us down the shore. The gentle crash of the tide going out, blue sea near seamlessly fading into dove gray sky. The sandy stretch revealed by the retreating waters has all sorts of mysteries. Shells and the like. If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll spot a treasure.
Such as a sweet pendant necklace of a pearl-hosting shell. The stippled interior of the shell features an artistic overlay of platinum over 14k rose-tinged yellow gold with a 4mm diameter pearl at the center. The shell was made around the turn of the 20th Century, originally a stick pin. Now as a pendant, it is fixed to a 18" 14K yellow gold modern cable chain with a spring ring clasp. The best part, it lays perfectly, never slides, no clasp in front.
This piece is in excellent vintage (pendant) and modern (chain) condition.
