The Victorian guard chain was designed to be as lovely as it was utilitarian. Often attached a pocket watch; the chain’s long length allowed it to be tucked into the waistband. Today, we are grateful for that length, as it allows us to wear our guard chains any number of ways: extra long, doubled or tripled. And, that nice big spring ring clasp that hosted a watch may now become the home to your favorite pendant or locket.

An antique long guard chain in 14k yellow with quadruple links and a nice spring ring. It has a touch of color from a rose gold slide decorated with a blue enamel stylized star. Gorgeous long length at 62.5" inches. Russian hallmarks from the mid-late 19th Century.

This chain is in good antique condition. It has just a few signs of previous repairs.
