19th C. French Diamond Brooch/Pendant
19th C. French Diamond Brooch/Pendant
It’s a sacred dance, the bees in the blooms. Come late spring when we hear their gentle hum in the back garden, we have to go out and see the performance. It’s almost like a homecoming, the little fuzzy fliers dance from flower to flower. On each one they snuggle around in the yellow pollen, such a joy, taking and leaving some golden flecks behind. Ensuring that the blooms will live on.
Like the prettiest and brightest flower we have ever had. All diamonds range dramatically in color and clarity, making for extraordinary brilliance. It features approximately 5.83ctw of happy, chunky and bright old mine cut diamonds, most likely cut in the mid-19th Century c. 1840-1860. This convertible brooch pendant would be happy on a chain woven through the original ‘C’ bail on the reverse or worn as a brooch. While the diamonds are set in silver, the pin findings are rosy 18K yellow gold with French hallmarks.
This piece is in excellent antique condition with a wonderful patina. It measures 1 ⅜” wide. A variety of gold chains are available separately for purchase, if desired.
