Imagine the Grand Tour. How exciting! Cross the wide, salty sea to lands you’ve only read about. Or maybe you saw them first in a painting at the Athenaeum, or in an etching in a dusty book.

But now you’re here, standing in front of the grandeur of Roman ruins. Gazing up at Greek statues. In the distance are the mountains above which the great pantheon of gods once sat.  Of course, you need something to remember your travels. The art and artisans you’re finally witnessing with your very eyes. They’ve encapsulated that history and lore in organic materials and thoughtfully encased them in delicate gold.

A Grand Tour souvenir! This bracelet depicts seven Greco-Roman gods in delicately carved shell cameos. We've been able to identify Athena (Diana) on the far left with her bow, arrow, and crescent moon headpiece. Next to her is Demeter (Ceres) with woven wheat in her hair. Slightly larger in the center is Dionysus (Bacchus) with his grape leaf headpiece. Second from the right is Aphrodite (Venus) with pearls in her hair. And on the far right we have Hera (Juno) with her domed diadem. We're still working on the ones on either side of Dionysus. All cameos are set in 14K yellow gold frames with a twisted wire border. There's a nice safety chain for easy on and off, to clasp the bracelet with its engraved rectangular box clasp. It was made in the mid-19th Century.

This bracelet is in excellent antique condition. It measures 7" in circumference.
