Dutch Diamond Bangle

$3,800.00

It started as a bit on holiday walking along the canals. Bridge after bridge we crossed, such that we decided we had to measure each journey by them. Trying to find that cafe my sister told us about? Six bridges. The trip to the Rijksmuseum, 13! On one of the most athletic urban cycling trips I will ever take in my lifetime. Up and over the slender waterways we go!

This slender antique, an elegant hinged bangle bracelet from the early 20th Century, comes from that land of bridge covered waterways. It features a collet-set, foil backed rose cut diamond. The crimped collets extend into crown-like prongs, holding the diamond aloft, with the bangle shoulders extending from either side. There is a Dutch hallmark for 583 (Dutch 14K) on the bayonet clasp, with a handmade figure eight alongside. There is also a worn hallmark on the bottom side of the bangle, which we have not been able to identify. This bangle comes in a perfectly fitted box from its jeweler of origin, J. A. Hoeting of Amsterdam. Based upon provenance, this bangle was made c. 1910 in the Netherlands.

This bangle is in great antique condition. It measures 2.5" across the middle, and a wider than average 2 ⅛” from top to bottom.
