Katz & Ogush Ruby Engagement Ring

$8,800.00

This ring was made by celebrated NYC firm Katz & Ogush in the 1920s, and is set with a splendid Burmese ‘pigeon’s blood’ ruby. It also comes with a fun backstory:

One day in 1917, Benjamin Katz, a messenger and photographer, went shopping for an engagement ring (his fiancee’s name was Pearl, of course). He asked so many insightful questions that the sales associate at Dinhofer Bros. ended up offering him a job. Four years later, Katz started his own firm, Katz & Ogush, and went on to be an important member of the trade, helping to frame laws regulating the jewelry industry. Stay curious, folks!

Beautifully crafted Art Deco engagement ring by NYC firm Katz & Ogush. Square head with swirling shoulders set with baguette, old European and single cut diamonds. Approx. .22 ctw diamonds. Featuring GRS certified "pigeon's blood" .99 cushion mixed cut ruby of Burmese origin.

Size 5.5, this ring can be resized.
