Being personable in person is our specialty, so sorting out an ‘about’ page feels like a foreign mission, but we'll will do our best to introduce ourselves in writing.

Gray & Davis is like any good story: a love story.  It is currently owned and operated by my college sweetheart and I, but it wasn’t always this way. It all started with Ms. Gray Davis Boone, once dubbed “The First Lady of Antiques”. Gray loved old things, but then again, she was quoted in People magazine as saying "Junk is junk, even if it is 100 years old."…Classic Gray. She was full of wonderful southern sayings like “Bless her heart” and “Ridden hard and put away wet”- I needed translation for all of it. Gray was simply the best mentor one could hope for.  She shared her wisdom big and small; about design, history, the best place to eat pae de queijo, and what it’s like to be a woman running a business in NYC.

When Gray retired in 2014 myself and my husband, Rick, purchased the business from her. We moved it from Midtown to Manhattan's West Village, an eclectic NYC neighborhood with history as deep and varied as our collection. Our shop is intentional, warm and welcoming. We even brought in our babies when they were little…happy and sad those days are behind us. It suits us downtown.

It still amazes us that metals and gemstones that formed deep in the earth are completely transformed by artisan human hands to become the works of art in our cases. Our reverence for these pieces is real and being the preservationists of such beauty, soul and history is an honor.

We are here because we love the journey and we never know what treasures we will find along the way. We believe that good design should be coveted, that special moments should be honored, that history is our greatest teacher and that there are so many love stories waiting to be told.
