Victorian Moonstone Necklace

$4,900.00

The planet Jupiter has eighty moons; an extravagance rarely matched on earth, that is until this necklace came along. It’s set with an impressive eighty-three moonstones, each aglow in its unique blue haze, in fearless competition with Jupiter’s giants; Callisto, Io and Europa. Each smooth cabochon is wrapped in a ring of rosy gold, and linked side by side to form a long chain with a large moonstone drop at the center. At its longest the chain measures 33.0 inches, though is cleverly affixed with a clasp midway, which allows you to quickly double the chain without any fuss. It’s not every day that a jewel eclipses the planets; so, go ahead earthling, outdo Jupiter.

A late Victorian c.1890 moonstone station necklace of eighty-three cabochon moonstones wrapped in 9 karat rosy gold bezels and featuring a clasp that allows the necklace to be worn doubled. 33.0” long and when doubled the inner stand measures 15.0” long. This necklace is in excellent antique condition.
