This excellent little vinaigrette was made in France during the Victorian era. Crafted from 18k gold & taking the form of a classical urn, this pendant would originalling have contained perfume that could be sniffed whenever unpleasant odours were encountered (a frequent occurence during the Victorian era!). The hinged lid still functions perfectly, and the the base is set with a blue seal of Lapis Lazuil so the urn can stand up on its own. As a final touch of detail, lines of black tracery enamel embellish foliate applique around the urn's base. Pendant measures 2.75" in length, including woven chain & bail, and is stamped with French assay marks for 18k gold.
