Simple and boring and two concepts not to be confused with one another. In the case of this Victorian locket, its simplicity is its pathway to timelessness. The form is a perfect, smooth circle made in bloomed 14 karat yellow gold. At its center is a round old European cut diamond surrounded by a classic mariner’s star bezel. The locket hinges open to reveal space for two round photos. Made by the firm of Henry A. Kirby of Providence, Rhode Island c. 1900, who were known for their more whimsical Art Nouveau creations. Simple, miles from boring and as at home in 2023 as we imagine it was in 1900.

This locket is in excellent antique condition. It measures 1.375” in diameter and 1.5” including the bale. The old European cut diamond weighs approximately 0.13 carats and is approx. J color, VS clarity.
