'Lean on Hope' Fob Pendant

$0.00

In the early 19th century, before the advent of pre-gummed envelopes, each letter was sealed with wax and the wax stamped with a seal, like a second signature. This pendant is just such a seal, hand carved with a depiction of a woman in a Roman palla garment leaning on an anchor, meaning ‘lean on hope’. For an individual with cause to write many letters, this fob would be kept on the person, used daily to impart a message of hope with each imprint, regardless of the letter contents. Today, you can bring the message of hope and positivity with you everywhere you go.

A c.1845 Victorian hand-carved intaglio letter fob in excellent antique condition. Carved agate bezel set and surrounded by black enamel. Set in a handmade fob pendant in 9 karat rosy gold featuring twisted wirework. Measures 1.0” tall.
