Large Victorian Locket
Large Victorian Locket
Her poker face was equal to the best of them, and her jewels just as enigmatic. An oversized locket in 15 karat yellow gold, staid in its pure, high-polish form since the 19th century. Most likely an heirloom. Most likely made in England. Most likely safeguarding a photo of her beloved. Plenty of likelihoods, and one certainty: the wish to make her acquaintance.
When minimalist is anything but. A 15 karat yellow gold locket from the late Victorian era c.1890. The locket measures 2.0” long and 1.75” wide. Made to accommodate a large photo, clearly before photo resizing was a thing. The bale measures an additional 0.75” long and is wide to accommodate larger chains. The pendant is in excellent antique condition. Room for a photo on the interior and finished with a blue satin backing on the other side.
