Etruscan Revival pendant featuring a translucent garnet intaglio of a woman in profile, wearing jewelry, of course. The intaglio is Roman, 1st Cenutry AD , and the pendant is Victorian. With concentric borders of hand twisted wire, cannetille rosettes, and larger granulation this piece has some of the most spectacular goldsmithing that we have seen. It takes incredible craft to fabricate such detail and perfection. While the intaglio is ancient the pendant was most likely made c.1850-1870 in Italy.  Inclusive of the bail, this pendant measures 2.5 inches in length. Incredible condition and photographed  on a modern 14K rolo chain . Please note, the chain is not included.
