c. 1850 Victorian Snake

$28,500.00

Our c. 1850 Victorian snake necklace. Each articulated link is made by hand and set with cabochon Persian turquoise and the head is studded with turquoise and is set with old cut diamonds and rubies. This necklace symbolized love – the Victorians believed turquoise was the color of true love, that rubies represented passion and diamonds eternity, and that the snake was a symbol of eternal devotion. The result is an exquisitely made necklace that is also about as cool as it gets. We can imagine that whomever first donned this necklace c.1850 felt immediately more powerful with it on. We can vouch that the same feeling is true today.

This necklace is in excellent antique condition. Made in 15k yellow gold and measures 15.5” long.
