Art Nouveau Opal Necklace
Art Nouveau Opal Necklace
Sunday on a cloudy beach. Loose jeans rolled a few times to keep dry, a chunky fisherman’s cardigan. But don’t leave the house without this petit pendant. Something to keep you grounded; to roll between the fingers while you listen to the waves spill their thoughts on why we’re all here. While you can’t see it on your own neck, the opal’s bright red blue and green flashes come alive in the overcast light, and the seed pearls, whose former home was the sea, are in their glory. Set in an east-west Art Nouveau pendant that combines angular turns and soft texture. Made c. 1890-1910.
An Art Nouveau brooch in excellent antique condition converted to a pendant. Made in 14 karat gold and affixed to a modern 14 karat gold 16” chain.
