Art Nouveau East-West Locket
Art Nouveau East-West Locket
Who was she and what did she know? Alas, these burning questions we must consign to history. What we do know is that this Art Nouveau locket is a special one. The east-west orientation and asymmetrical nature is a rarity, and a signature of a handmade jewel. Atop her tresses of hair she wears a crown of rose cut diamonds and reigns over her petit landscape of vines and flowers set with lively rubies. With her right hand she lifts a flower to her nose presumably to drink in the scent. Amid our hectic modern lives the serenity of her world somehow manages to bring calm.
A French Art Nouveau locket in excellent antique condition made c.1890, in 18 karat yellow gold with French hallmarks. The pendant measures 1.5” wide and 1.5” long including the bale. Space for a photo and opens via slide mechanism. Shown with modern gold cable chain, available separately for purchase.
