Down to every detail this necklace is a work of impeccable craftsmanship. The long chain is hand-pulled foxtail, a type of woven chain that takes great skill to make straight, and of such equal width throughout. The slide at the center is a striking combination of rubies, black onyx, diamonds and black enamel, and finished with a swishing fringe of foxtail. It moves seamlessly along the chain making it adjustable down from its full 48.0” length. Rose cut and old European cut diamonds measure approximately 0.65 carats, and the rubies weigh approximately 0.95 carats. Fitted with a watch clip for a favorite pendant and a tassel on the opposing end. Made in France c. 1850 – 1880.
