Art Nouveau Moonstone Necklace
Art Nouveau Moonstone Necklace
Our moon is always there, but some nights it elects to bathe us in the sublime. These occasions are enough to stop you in your tracks – the silvery blue aura radiates and somehow that orb seems bigger than ever before. We like to think that those nights are where moonstone got its name – and necklaces like these make us believe that. Four cabochon moonstones, with a silky blue adularescence interspersed with four baroque pearls whose soft glow like nearby stars plays a supporting role. The center moonstone accented by mazes of geometric blue enamel and the smallest moonstones, dare we say, orbited by gold and enamel shooting stars. Maybe galactic analogies is going too far, but either way this necklace is far out.
A 14 karat yellow gold Art Nouveau necklace set with four moonstone cabochons, four freshwater pearls, and royal blue champleve enamel detail. Handmade c. 1900.
This necklace is in excellent antique condition. Chain measures 17.5 inches, centerpiece is 1.5 inches long.
