Early Victorian Garnet Bracelet

$5,900.00

There comes times in life when you suddenly feel the unmistakable pull of adventure. Time to call forth your garnet jewels. For centuries garnets have acted as a fortress for those on a journey; to ensure safe return, to protect from all ailments, to warn of danger to come, and as a healer for dangers met. This early Victorian bracelet made c.1835 is set with nineteen cabochon garnets whose deep red glow is typical of stones mined long ago and a rare find today. Each garnet is foil-backed and set in a foliate link stamped from gold sheets, a new technique at the time that gave jewels a voluminous look, without the cumbersome weight or expense. Whether you’re taken by the lore, or simply want to paint the town garnet red, this Victorian bracelet is the first stop when adventure tugs. Handmade in 14 karat yellow gold c. 1830-1840.

This bracelet is in excellent antique condition. It measures 7.0” long and 0.33” wide and the centerpiece is 0.875” wide.
